Gunman taken into custody after firing shots at Glendale police

A man was taken into custody after firing at police officers in Glendale early Wednesday morning.

Glendale police say 24-year-old Kitage Lynch was arrested after he fired gunshots at two officers near 95th Avenue and Camelback at about 1 a.m.

Once police approached the area, Lynch got out of his vehicle, began firing shots at two officers and then left the scene and headed towards a nearby open field.

The Glendale SWAT team responded to the field and took Lynch into custody.

Police say Lynch's vehicle is tied to an ongoing investigation in La Paz County.

Lynch has been booked into Glendale City Jail.
