As the fate of the current peace proposal between the United States and Iran remains undecided, President Donald Trump is pushing back on reports about the terms of the deal.

While the official terms of the proposed agreement have not been released, reports have indicated that it would include a framework for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and extending the halt on hostilities for another 60 days during which the two countries would try to reach an accord on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

On Thursday, Vice President JD Vance suggested negotiators were seeking general terms on Iran’s nuclear program, with more specifics needing to be hammered out. Iranian officials said they were focused on ending the conflict and "are not interested in discussing the details of the nuclear plan at this point."

Trump posted Sunday a rebuttal to one news outlet’s report that he claimed said a nuclear deal with Iran did not discuss the nuclear program. Trump stated that the proposal being discussed with Iranian leaders is mostly about their ambitions and required the Middle Eastern country to abandon plans for a nuclear weapon, saying "that is what most of the agreement is about."

The president’s post described what was being discussed as a "nuclear deal," and Trump did not specify if it was the one he is currently waiting to make the "final determination" on.
