Laveen residents are tired of illegal trash dumping eyesore

Trash dumped on the side of the road -- unfortunately, it's a common sight in the neighborhood and people are tired of it. Not only is it an eyesore, it's illegal.

"It's kinda disgusting to me, displeasing and it just shows me there are a lot of lazy people," said Michele Mendoza.

A mattress, picture frame and all sorts of unwanted items just piled up in two corners. One on 37th Lane and Vineyard and the other just two blocks away on 39th Lane -- and residents are not having it.

"There's a dump two miles from here that doesn't charge anything. I don't understand why these people can't find it in their heart to go and take it where it needs to be taken," said Mendoza.

Mendoza has been living here for years and it's something she's always seen.

"I lived here for six years and I can say the entire time we've lived here, it's here, a little down there or just past the empty field where there is just piles high of just trash."

Another resident says he's tried to catch up to a person he caught illegally dumping.

"I'm out here all the time, everyday at 4:30 a.m. and sometimes in the afternoon and the other day I tried to catch somebody dumping, but they ran away before I can get to them because I probably had the dogs with me."

As for Brian Wright, he's taking matters into his own hands.

"I'll pick some of it up.. I don't have any place to put it."
