MCSO looking for suspects who stole bucket of Amethyst from mine in the Tonto National Forest

PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help, as they search for two suspects who alleged damaged the Four Peaks Amethyst Mine in the Tonto National Forest.

According to a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the suspects broke into the mine sometime on August 16, 2018. Besides causing damage, the suspects were seen leaving with a five-gallon bucket of Amethyst that is valued at about $15,000 to $20,000.

MCSO officials say an image captured one of the suspects getting into a black Toyota Tundra, with a possible partial plate of "GYO65". The vehicle has a damaged driver's side door and a damaged front quarter panel. Plastic trim is also missing around the rear tailgate handle.

Officials with MCSO also released descriptions of the two suspects. Both suspects are described as white male, in between the ages of 25 and 30. The first suspect is described as being 5' 10" to 6' tall, and the second suspect is described as being approximately 5' 6" tall.
