Mesa FD: Woman finds grenade-like item in garage

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - The Mesa Fire Department is no longer evaluating an item for explosives.

Fire officials say a woman found what appeared to be a grenade-like item inside a garage she was helping clean out and brought it to Mesa Fire Department Station 206.

Officials evacuated the station and blocked off the area. A bomb team was brought in to examine the item as a precaution.

Mesa Police said it was not a grenade and appeared to be a decoration or display made from cast iron. The scene has been cleared.
