Mobile vet brings animal healthcare to seniors in assisted-living facilities
CLEARWATER, Fla. - For seniors who love their animals, getting to the veterinarian can be difficult and that can mean suffering the heartache of seeing their beloved pets not getting the healthcare they need. That's why veterinarians from the Humane Society of Pinellas in Florida are making house calls.
It's a program called Senior Pet Connection and it helps to make sure seniors like Dorothy Thompson and her dog Angel can be healthy and happy together for as long as possible. Thompson and Angel live in an assisted-living facility where it's hard for her to make trips to the vet. This mobile veterinarian office comes to them and makes sure Thompson's best buddy is in good health.
"Oh it's wonderful, I love it," Thompson told Fox 13 Tampa.
Angel gets to have the full-vet experience right at home and Thompson can avoid the stress of trying to arrange a trip to the veterinarian. Thompson was happy to learn that Angel is healthy, which is one less thing Thompson has to worry about.
