PD: Pregnant woman stabbed to death in Tempe parking lot, suspect arrested

TEMPE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - According to the Tempe Police Department, a 39-year-old pregnant woman in her third trimester was stabbed to death in a Tempe apartment complex parking lot, and a suspect has been arrested.

Tempe police respond to an apartment complex early Sunday morning near 8th Street and McClintock for reports of a woman screaming in the parking lot.

When officials arrived on scene they found the 39-year-old woman suffering from stab injuries.

The female was transported to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital, where both the woman and the unborn baby died from their injuries.

Detectives were able to identify a vehicle for the suspect, and an adult male was taken into custody near Quartzsite, AZ along Interstate 10 westbound with the help of DPS.

No further details have been released.

Fox 10 spoke with a man who says the victim came to his door for help before she collapsed in the parking lot. The man's roommate called 911.

"They came within two minutes and if I'm not wrong they found the lady there, so my friend just saw her there and she was severely stabbed," said Vivek Sharma who lives in the apartment complex. "We saw her t-shirt it was drenched in blood."

Another neighbor said she found the woman screaming in pain and doesn't believe she lived at the complex.
