Phoenix Police: bicyclist taken to the hospital following collision

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- A bicyclist has been taken to the hospital, following a serious crash in Phoenix.

According to Sgt. Tommy Thompson with Phoenix Police, they are investigating the crash, which took place on the 2600 block of W. Camelback. Thompson said it appears the bicyclist, identified only as an adult man, was weaving in and out of traffic, and was struck after he rode in front of a vehicle.

Thompson said the bicyclist was conscious when he was being taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Camelback Road is closed from 26th Avenue to 27th Avenue, and it is likely to remain closed through the afternoon commute.
