Phoenix police: Man accused of sexually assaulting co-worker claims she rejected him

Police arrested a man suspected of beating and sexually assaulting his co-worker and kicking a police officer at a furniture store in west Phoenix near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Agustin Navarro was booked into jail on nine felony counts, including attempted murder and sexual assault.

According to investigators, Navarro put his co-worker in a choke hold until she was unconscious on Tuesday at Conn's Home Plus, then dragged her to the back of the building.

Police say Navarro hit the victim, kicked her head, inappropriately touched her and attempted to perform sex acts.

When Navarro was taken into custody, authorities say he kicked one of the officers.

The woman was hospitalized.

Court records show Navarro told police he asked the woman out on a date on Monday, but she rejected him.
