Police: Man dies after being hit by Phoenix Fire Department ambulance
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police say a man has died after he was hit by a Phoenix Fire Department ambulance on Monday.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, an ambulance was responding to a call and leaving a Phoenix Fire Station near Grand Avenue and Pierce Street at 11:37 a.m., and as the vehicle left the station and drove down the driveway, firefighters inside the ambulance heard and felt a "bump."
Firefighters looked in the rearview mirror and saw a backpack on the ground. After exiting the vehicle, firefighters saw an injured man lying on the ground.
The man was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The victim's identity has not been released.
