Police: Missing Mesa man found dead in Phoenix

PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Mesa Police officials say Phoenix Police is handling an investigation into the death of a man who was last seen alive on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by Mesa Police Department officials Wednesday night, 74-year-old George Sabori was last seen at around 2:00 p.m. that day, in the area of Southern Avenue and Country Club Drive. He reportedly left his home on foot to go for a walk, and did not return home.

Sabori's status was subjected to some confusion. On Thursday morning, Mesa Police officials say Sabori was safely located, but on Thursday afternoon, Mesa Police officials issued another statement, saying Sabori's case is now a death investigation by Phoenix Police.

According to a statement released by Sgt. Tommy Thompson Thursday afternoon, Sabori was found dead in Phoenix, and there does not appear to be any foul play. A cause of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office.
