Police shoot bank robbery suspect following pursuit on Valley freeways

PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Department of Public Safety troopers pursued a suspect vehicle on Interstate 10, Loop 101 and Interstate 17 on Monday evening.

According to Goodyear police, the pursuit was due to a bank robbery at a Chase bank located on Litchfield Road in Goodyear.

Following the pursuit, Interstate 10 westbound was closed at 43rd Avenue due to the police situation.

The freeway was reopened early Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune of the Phoenix Police Department says this case is an officer-involved shooting with GPD officers. No officers were injured.

GPD says three Goodyear officers fired at the male suspect. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
