Police: Threat aimed at Independence High School was done as 'joke' by 3 students

GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a threat aimed at Independence High School was done as a "joke" by three students and criminal charges are being submitted.

According to the Glendale Police Department, school resource officers interviewed all people involved in the threat and have determined that statements and photos concerning the threat were done as a "joke" by three 15-year-old students.

Police say the students were not planning to carry out an actual threat.

The students and their parents have been notified and criminal charges are being submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

There will be an increased presence at the school to assure parents and students that the campus is safe.
