Prescott 5th grader suspended for alleged gun threat

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A Prescott fifth-grader has been suspended for allegedly threatening to kill classmates with a rifle.

The Daily Courier reported Saturday that the principal at Washington Elementary School is suspending the 10-year-old girl for one week.

The administrator told Prescott police several students reported the threats earlier this month.

According to a police report, the girl allegedly told some classmates on Feb. 12 that she was going to bring a "loaded AK-47" to school and kill them.

But police say the girl denied making threats. The girl's mother also told police that one of the students who reported the threat has a history of trying to get her daughter in trouble.

Police say they will send their report to the Yavapai County Attorney's Office for review of possible charges.
