Scottsdale police look for driver in deadly hit-and-run

Police are looking for the driver of a car that hit and killed an elderly man who was walking across a Scottsdale street on Sunday night.

Scottsdale police say the 80-year-old man was crossing the street with his son near Camelback and Hayden when a Toyota Prius hit the man and left the scene.

The elderly man died at the scene and police found the abandoned car about a mile from the scene near Mariposa and Granite Reed Road. The Prius had sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision.

"Right now, we're trying to locate the driver using the information that's located inside the vehicle," Sgt. Benjamin Hoster said.

The northbound lanes of Hayden have been re-opened by police.

The investigation is ongoing.
