SFMD: Homeless person dead in what appears to be a heat-related incident

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A homeless person is found dead in Apache Junction, in what officials say appears to be a heat-related incident.

According to the Superstition Fire and Medical District, the man was found in an open desert area just south of Baseline Road, at the Goldfield Road alignment. SFMD received a call at around 1:15 p.m. for an unconscious person at the location, and was directed in by a by-stander.

The homeless person, according to SFMD officials, was living in the desert area. Apache Junction Police is investigating the incident.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of South-Central Arizona, including the entire Phoenix metropolitan area, until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
