Sheriff Joe Arpaio celebrates 22nd anniversary of Tent City

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and inmates in his jail marked a major milestone on Monday as Tent City celebrated its 22nd anniversary.

Arpaio and the inmates commemorated the big day with a birthday cake prepared by inmates at his food factory.

The sheriff opened Tent City on August 3, 1993 using donated Korean War tents and it has stayed open ever since, despite calls over the years from several groups to close it.

Arpaio plans to keep it around for as long as he's sheriff of Maricopa County.
