Some visitors surprised by Flagstaff's cold temperatures during winter storm

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- As a result of a winter storm, as much as 10 inches of snow fell in Flagstaff, which was enough to close schools for the day.

While visitors didn't seem to mind the snow, some were a little surprised by how cold it got.

"They come up here and they don't think it's going to be super cold, and the wind is actually pretty chilly," said Mitch Anderson.

"I didn't know how cold it was going to be, but now I know," said one person.

There was a rush to the stores to get some essentials.

Usually it's like jackets, gloves and hats," said Anderson.

Everything people need to stay warm, as old man winter hits the high country. For one Phoenix man, he saw snow for the first time.

"Honestly, I love it," said the man.

While some people are enjoying the snow, many people, like ADOT and the City of Flagstaff, have been working around the clock to make sure that the streets stay safe for people.
