Suspect in custody following officer-involved shooting in north Phoenix
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police say a suspect is in custody following an officer-involved shooting in north Phoenix.
Phoenix police say the shooting happened near Central and Greenway on Thursday morning after officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood.
When officers approached the vehicle, police say the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Antonio Goff, fled the scene and as he drove towards one of the officers, the 45-year-old officer fired his weapon at the suspect's vehicle.
During a search in the area, Goff was found in a residential backyard and was taken into custody with the help of a K-9 officer.
Police say Goff was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment from a dog bite and was booked into jail on an outstanding warrant, as well as aggravated assault on a police officer and trespassing
No officers were injured in the shooting.
