Valley man accused in deadly hit-and-run

Police say a Valley man was impaired when he hit and killed someone earlier this week and investigators say it's the second time this month he's been in trouble.

Brandon Williams, 28, faced a judge for the second time month, only this time court documents indicate his actions led to someone's death.

Tuesday evening just before 7 p.m., investigators say Williams was heading northbound on El Mirage Road, just past Maryland, when he swerved into the wrong-way lane, went off the road and hit someone who was walking in the dirt.

Deputies say after examining Williams, they found he was drunk with a blood-alcohol level of .119, but that wasn't all what they believed was in his system.

"He admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day and smoking marijuana and smoking oxicodone at precious times beforehand," a deputy said.

Investigators say they found burnt aluminum in Williams' car, which is typically used to smoke opioids.

Williams, already on felony release for an aggravated DUI charge from May 1, was back in front of a judge 15 days later.

"As a result, you're gonna be held with no bond, you cannot bond out," the judge said.
