Yavapai County man accused of firing shots at ex-wife's car

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) -- Yavapai County Sheriff's officials say a man has been arrested after a domestic-violence related shooting.

A woman called authorities about 11 p.m. Saturday to say she was being followed in her vehicle by her estranged husband and he fired several shots that broke her window.

The woman wasn't hit by any of the rounds.

Sheriff's officials say 58-year-old William Nelson was stopped near Flagstaff and he was armed with a handgun when he got out of his car.

A deputy shot Nelson in the leg and he was taken to a Flagstaff hospital for treatment.

Nelson was booked into a Camp Verde jail Monday on suspicion of intent to commit murder with premeditation, aggravated assault and aggravated assault on law enforcement.

It was unclear Tuesday if Nelson has a lawyer.
