Suns hang on to beat Clippers for third-straight win
PHOENIX - Devin Booker led the way with 26 points, and the Phoenix Suns survived a late scare, beating the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night for their third-straight victory.
The Suns had a 13 point lead with just over five minutes to go in the game, but the Clippers went on a 10-0 run, cutting the deficit to one point with just 40 seconds left.
Grayson Allen's two free throws iced the game for Phoenix, who went on to win the game, 111-109.
By the numbers:
Kevin Durant added 24 points for the Suns. Allen scored 18 points off the bench, and Tyus Jones had 17 points.
The Suns tied a season-high with 22 three pointers in the win.
Ivan Zubac led the way for the Clippers with 25 points and 16 rebounds. James Harden added 24 points and 10 assists for LA. Normal Powell scored 23 points.
Big picture view:
With the win, the Suns moved into eighth place in the Western Conference standings. Phoenix is a half-game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves.
What's next:
The Suns host the Timberwolves on Jan. 29 before hitting the road for four-straight games, including a Feb. 5 showdown with the top team in the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
