Arizona Supreme Court decides against extending execution warrant for Aaron Gunches
The death warrant for Aaron Gunches, who was found guilty of killing his girlfriend's ex-husband in 2022, is set to expire in April, but Gov. Katie Hobbs has said she will not execute Gunches at this time, citing a review that she has ordered on death penalty protocols in Arizona. The sister of Gunches' murder victim, along with Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, filed a motion to extend Gunches' death warrant.
