Head of Phoenix's Office of Accountability & Transparency resigns
The director of Phoenix's Office of Accountability and Transparency is resigning after two years. Roger Smith was hired to provide civilian oversight of Phoenix Police investigations involving the use of force and allegations of misconduct. The office was formed after a record number of police shootings and the Justice Department launched an investigation into claims of civil rights violations and abuse of power. Smith's last day will be Feb. 9. The city says it will start looking for his replacement.
