Biden administration cracks down on asylum rules
With just over a month until the election, the Biden administration announced tougher restrictions on asylum seekers. Under the new rules, migrants will not be granted asylum when the U.S. determines the southern border is overwhelmed with people trying to enter this country. The previous restrictions limited asylum access when there were 2,500 border crossings each day. That would be lifted when the daily average crossings were below 1,500 a day for a week. The new rules go into effect on Oct. 1.
