Arizona freeways and Interstate 10 fill list of most dangerous highways in the U.S.

PHOENIX - A new study is showing that Arizona roadways are among the most dangerous when it comes to speeding and fatal crashes.
Why are these crashes happening?

According to a study published by Truckinfo.net, Arizona is home to five of the 10 most dangerous highways in the country for speeding.
Additionally, Maricopa County is the second-worst county in the nation with 232 fatalities from speeding-related incidents.
The five most dangerous highways in Arizona are listed as follows:
- Interstate 10, Maricopa County - 17 fatalities
- US-60, Maricopa County - 14 fatalities
- Interstate 40, Coconino County - 9 fatalities
- Interstate 10, Pinal County - 9 fatalities
- Interstate 17, Maricopa County - 9 fatalities

Interstate 10 is represented three times on the list.
On the stretch of I-10 in Riverside, Calif., there were 12 fatalities during the time period the data was collected from.
Los Angeles County was the only county that had more fatalities than Maricopa County due to speeding accidents with 322.
California and Texas had the most fatal crashes of all 50 states and were the only two states that had more than 1,000 fatalities through the data collection period.
