Army dad returns to surprise his 3 sons

14-year-old Matthew Tatum was attending a Halloween costume contest at Wallace Middle School in Kyle, Texas. He did what a lot of kids do, and dressed up as his hero.

In his case, that's his dad, Army Sgt. Nathan Tatum. Matthew and his two younger brothers, Christopher and Josh, had no idea that Sgt. Tatum had just returned from seven months in South Korea.

While Matthew was explaining his costume to his classmates, Sgt. Tatum gave the brothers something better than candy.

Christopher screamed as Sgt. Tatum walked onto stage, "Matt, look behind you! It's Dad!"

The brothers all came on stage and hugged their father tightly. Halloween isn't all about the candy, nor is any holiday just about presents or food. They're about joy.

"It's one of those feelings you just...you can't describe. It's pure joy and happiness," said Sgt. Tatum.

Remember, even when we are apart from our family, their love is never far away.
