Arrest made in deadly Mesa shooting

MESA - Mesa Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting on Friday night.

Officers responded to an apartment complex near Dobson and 8th Street at about 9pm on Friday evening. A 29-year-old man was found inside an apartment with a gunshot wound, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

A suspect, 34-year-old Rene Nunez, was detained on Saturday morning. Police say Nunez told investigators that he was involved in the shooting, which appears to be drug-related. Nunez was booked on second-degree murder charges. The victim in this homicide has not yet been identified.
