Bikini Beans Coffee holds fundraiser for family of girl killed in apparent road-rage shooting

MESA, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Customers picking up their morning cup of coffee at Bikini Beans in Mesa got a little something extra with their order.

"These flyers are just going to have to helpful tips on how to avoid road rage," Regina Lyles said.

Tips, like plan ahead, calm yourself and don't engage.

Founder and owner of Bikini Beans, Regina Lyles says the flyers are a way to honor Summer Bell Brown -- her picture is on the other side of the flyer.

The 10-year-old was shot and killed two weeks ago in her driveway in an apparent case of road rage.

"We just want to educate the community, like I said, road rage is becoming far too common," Lyles said.

"Just by sending their condolences, donating whatever they can, even if it's money, flowers, cards... it's been very, very helpful," said Taniesha Brown, Summer's mom.

Brown stopped by the fundraiser to thank Lyle and the community. She and her husband are grateful for the support, and both are hopeful the message being handed out here is heard loud and clear... and it seems to be.

"I wish people would calm down, go obey the speed limit and everything like that just, you know, take your time," one customer said.

For every cup sold today, Bikini Beans will donate $2 to the Brown family, but Lyle, a mother herself, says preventing a loss like this one and spreading awareness are what matters most.
