Circle K clerk murder case: Suspect arrested

The public is getting their first look at a man Phoenix Police say shot and killed a clerk inside a Circle K convenience store.

Police say the surveillance pictures led to immediate tips; two people called saying they recognized the man who allegedly shot and killed the clerk, John Still. One tipster even told police where he was living.

Now, 35-year-old Seth Martin is in a Maricopa County Jail, ordered by a judge to be held on a 1 million dollar bond.

"Seth Martin... you are here for murder, this is first degree," said a judge during his initial appearance.

Phoenix Police believe Martin is the man on surveillance video who robbed the store, and murdered the clerk. The video shows Still was trying to open the register when he was shot several times.

"I can't imagine killing anybody for a couple of bucks or something," said Steve Jamison.

Jamison lives across the street from the trailer Martin was renting at in the Sierra Vista Mobile Home Community. He says Martin just moved in two months ago.

Police say they caught up with Martin as his job at a nearby tire shop on Monday. Jamison says that is the same day officers and detectives showed up in force at Martin's mobile home.

"Coming and going, yesterday they had a truck there, they went through the trash, a couple of big SUV's and regular police cars came and went," said Jamison.

He says he's never even met his neighbor but is stunned and appalled at what he's accused of doing.

"I can't imagine, I can't believe it, if it is him, I hope they nail him," he said.
