Dive team recovers body believed to be man who jumped into Tempe Town Lake

TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say dive teams have recovered the body of a man who reportedly jumped off the Mill Avenue Bridge and into Tempe Town Lake on Wednesday night.

According to the Tempe Police Department, witnesses reported seeing a Hispanic man throw his bicycle off the bridge and then jump into the lake. Witnesses say they saw the man yell for help before going under water without resurfacing.

Thirty minutes earlier, witnesses told police they saw the same man talking about jumping into the lake.

A dive team recovered a body on Thursday morning that is believed to be the same man.

The victim's identity has not been released.
