DNA from remains matches Michigan boy missing since 1979
MACON, Ga. - Tests confirm the remains of an unknown person buried in Georgia are those of a 15-year-old boy who ran away from his Michigan home in 1979.
According to police, the remains are a clear DNA match with Dennis Greer.
Investigators said Greer left his high school in Lenawee County 39 years ago.
Then two days later, he was hit and killed by a semi-truck near Macon, Georgia while hitchhiking.
The case was reopened in 2014.
A retired sheriff's deputy from Bibb County made the connection last December and the body was exhumed in April for testing.
