Fight inside Mesa bar leads to stabbing of 2 men

MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Mesa police are searching for a suspect accused of stabbing two men at a bar.

Authorities say officers were called to Uncle Monkey's Bar & Grill around 4 a.m. Wednesday because of an altercation during an after-hours event.

Police spokesman Steve Berry says two men had been stabbed inside and a woman suffered a broken ankle. The two stabbing victims were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover.

Berry says the male suspect allegedly made inappropriate comments to a female patron.

The comments led to the two victims coming to her defense.

Police say that's when the stabbings occurred and the woman somehow injured her ankle during the fight.

Berry says authorities know who the suspect is but are not releasing his identity.
