Florida teens accused of spitting in deputies' food at restaurant

Three food service workers in Florida were arrested for spitting in two deputies' meals.

On Saturday, the two uniformed deputies in Okeechobee, Florida stopped at Highway 55 Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is located at 307 North Parrott Avenue. An anonymous person notified the restaurant owners that three employees conspired to spit in the law enforcement officers' food.

The owners viewed surveillance video footage to confirm the accusations, according to investigators, and notified the Okeechobee City Police Department. The three teen employees were fired.

The teens - one 16-year-old and two 17 year olds - were arrested and charged under the Florida Anti-Tampering Act, along with battery on a law enforcement officer. They were transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

The deputies were notified and the agency said treatment was not required.
