Man assaulted on Phoenix mountain trail on Sunday
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix police are investigating an assault that happened on a Phoenix mountain trail on Sunday morning.
Phoenix fire crews say a 21-year-old man is reporting he was attacked by an acquaintance while they were hiking a mountain trail. The reported assault broke out near 22nd Place and Mountain View Road. Police say the 21-year-old victim met a man earlier on Sunday and they decided to go to a mountain trail.
For unknown reasons, the two began fighting and the suspect struck the victim on the head with a rock.
Police are now investigating the incident to see what led up to the alleged attack. A tactical rescue team helped to bring down the victim, who is reportedly in stable condition.
Fire crews took the man to a nearby hospital, and he is expected to survive his injuries.
The suspect is described as a 28-year-old white man with tattoos on his arm.
