Man cracks his neck, lands in hospital with stroke
GUTHRIE, Okla. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A man in Oklahoma experienced a frightening and bizarre medical emergency that could have you changing something you may do often.
Josh Hader stretched and popped his neck, which is something plenty of us do all the time.
Except less than an hour later, the 28-year-old Hader was in the ER unable to walk.
Turns out, Hader had torn a major artery and caused a clot, causing a potentially life-threatening stroke.
He'll likely always have consequences from the stroke, but is going to be OK.
There's no purely safe way to pop your neck, but if you want to pop your neck, doctors say to pop it by tilting your head side to side and not by twisting it. If you twist it, there's a risk of tearing that blood vessel.
