Man in serious condition after semi runs over Prius

A 30-year-old man is in serious condition after a postal semi-truck ran over his Prius near 48th Street and Washington early Tuesday morning.

Police say the postal truck was turning out of the main Phoenix post office, when it collided with the Prius. The car was stuck underneath the semi-truck and the driver had to be pulled from the car.

The driver of the Prius is in serious condition, but is expected to survive. The driver of the semi-truck will not be cited.

The roadway near the collision remains closed, but is expected to reopen this morning.
