MCSO: Body found in burned home in Surprise area

SURPRISE - Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies say a body was found in a burned home in a county island in the Surprise area over the weekend.

Fire crews responded to the home after it went up in flames near 155th Avenue and Jomax on Saturday morning.

MCSO deputies say that once the fire was put out, a body was found inside the burned home. It's not clear how the victim died, but deputies believe the remains were burned during the fire.

Crews are looking into what sparked the fire, and investigators with the sheriff's office are trying to determine the circumstances that led to the victim's death.
