Military family, neighbors plant flags in Mesa to celebrate 4th of July

One Mesa military family has a wonderful Fourth of July tradition.

Jackie and Wes Hunter and their three kids began planting flags in the parks in their community last year.

They began the tradition after Wes learned he would be deployed to Afghanistan.

Wes is gearing up to leave again on Sunday.

On Friday morning, neighbors decided to pitch in and help the family plant flags around their community.

There will be 12 parks covered in our country's flag to create a visual reminder of the sacrifice Wes, and so many Americans, make for their loved ones and neighbors.

The Hunter's also plant flags on Memorial Day, Flag Day and Veteran's Day.
