Pedestrian hurt in collision with Tucson police vehicle

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police are investigating a collision between one of its patrol vehicles and a pedestrian who was left seriously injured.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says the incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. Sunday when a police officer made a left-hand turn from East Broadway onto South Kolb Road.

Dugan says the officer's patrol car struck a man who was crossing Kolb Road at the intersection.

The officer, who was transporting a passenger, immediately stopped and administered first-aid.

The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Dugan says he is currently listed in stable condition.

Neither the officer nor his passenger was hurt.

The incident is still under investigation.
