Sheriff: Yuma man attacked, killed by swarm of bees

YUMA, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Police say a Yuma man has died after being stung by a swarm of bees in the 9300 block of East Stetson Street.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, the sheriff received a report regarding a male victim being stung by several bees. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the man was in his backyard removing a beehive when the bees became agitated and started to sting him.

The YCSO says the victim ran to his front yard where he was located by officials, covered in bees. Rural Metro was able to spray the victim with water, giving first responders the opportunity to remove the victim from the scene.

The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Epigmenio Gonzalez. He was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A female victim at the same residence was also transported to the medical center and treated for several bee stings.
