Suspect killed while trying to rob restaurant
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - An armed robber at a Phoenix restaurant ended with the suspect being shot and killed. Now employees are speaking to FOX 10 about the terrifying experience.
The employees didn't see the shooting because they were so scared and hid in the bathroom. All police have said is the man who shot and killed the robber is associated with the restaurant.
Tacos Mich is located at 27th Avenue and Camelback and they had eight customers inside eating when a man walked in with a gun.
"A person came in, he pointed a gun at me, told me to open the register and give him money, he was very mad," said a worker.
At first the employee said she wouldn't give up the money, but the suspect wouldn't take no for an answer. Workers say he snatched the money out of the register and took off. Soon after gunshots rang out in the parking lot.
"When I heard the gunshots I ran to the bathroom to hide," said Isabel Garcia.
Police say a man associated with the restaurant admitted to shooting 35-year-old Cesar Garcia Bermudez. He was found dead near the business. Employees say they had seen the suspect in the restaurant before.
"I was scared because this is the second time it has happened, and the last time was on Sunday," said Garcia.
Police questioned the shooter and released him, so far he isn't facing any changes, but police say the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities say many witnesses left the scene after the shooting and they want to speak with those witnesses.
