Suspect shot several times during Tucson police chase
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police say an armed suspect was shot while fleeing from officers but is expected to survive.
Sgt. Pete Dugan says the incident began at 10 p.m. Saturday when a woman says she saw a couple in an altercation and tried to intervene.
The woman says the man then pointed a gun at her.
Officers called the scene say the suspect ran when they approached.
Dugan says the suspect was armed with a handgun during the pursuit and shots were fired.
The suspect was struck several times and was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
No officers were injured.
Dugan says standard criminal and internal affairs investigations remain ongoing.
