Wellton RV park fire kills 1 woman, leaves 4 homeless

WELLTON, Ariz. (AP) - One woman is dead, four people are homeless and 40 are without power following a fire that engulfed a Wellton RV park.

The Yuma Sun reports that the Thursday morning fire engulfed an apartment next to the Desert Rose RV Park clubhouse and destroyed two trailers.

The woman who died lived in the apartment. Her name has not yet been released.

Wellton Fire Department Battalion Chief David Rodriguez said the trailers and clubhouse apartment were completely destroyed.

The Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to four adults left homeless after the fire.

Rodriguez said about 40 residents will be without electricity for a few days while officials rebuilt power boxes destroyed by the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
