Police: Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder charged with battery

Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schröder was charged with battery, along with three other people in the 2800 block of Buford Highway, according to a Brookhaven Police report.

The police report states an officer responded to a fight call at 2 a.m. Friday morning, and witnessed Schröder, along with Maurice Adu-poku, Edrissa Sonko, and Balle Jobe walking towards vehicles.

The victim, Joey Hall, was located by another officer, according to the report.

The four who were charged were attempting to leave the location near the exit of a parking lot, according to the police report. They were detained.

The police report states the officer watched surveillance video from a camera near the entrance of a business, which showed seven people bunched together in what appeared to be a verbal heated exchange.

The report states that video shows Schröder initiated physical contact with Hall by shoving him. Then later in the video, those arrested were all seen attacking Hall, striking with hands and feet, according to the police report.

Security in the area eventually separated all parties involved, and Hall sustained scratches to his right knee and had right ankle pain, according to the police report. He was transported to Grady Hospital.

The Hawks issued the following statement to FOX 5 Atlanta:

The 24-year-old Schröder played in 79 games for the Hawks last season, averaging 17.9 points and 6.3 assists in his first season as a starter.
