What to know about Vitalant's upcoming largest blood drive in Arizona amid a massive shortage
Blood donations typically drop in the summertime, causing supplies to continuously drop. Vitalant says supplies of type O blood dipped below a 2-day supply and that blood is being used faster than it can be provided. Vitalant has added a second day to Arizona?s largest blood drive to try to get an immediate increase in blood donations. More than 700 appointments remain open. The blood bank runs Saturday, July 2 at the Gila River Arena and on Sunday, July 3 at Tempe Center for the Arts.
