Arizona weather forecast: Well above normal temps continue in Phoenix

Tuesday's high temperature of 86 degrees broke a 1963 record for the Phoenix area.

That decades-old record was 85 degrees.

This week, temperatures warm into the middle 80s around the Valley, with a high of 86 degrees forecast at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

By the numbers:

Along with the warm conditions, it will be dry and mostly sunny during the afternoon on Tuesday. In the High Country, it will also be windy. Gusts 30-35 mph are forecast around spots like Kingman and Prescott.

Gusts up to 30-40 mph are possible around the White Mountains and San Francisco Peaks, including Flagstaff. Winds will stay generally lighter in the Valley.

What's next:

For Wednesday and Thursday, the forecast high is expected to cap near 80 degrees in Phoenix. It will be windy again in Northern Arizona on Wednesday. The entire state remains sunny, too.

In fact, dry and warm weather will last through the weekend. Highs in the upper 70s are forecast Friday and Saturday and middle 70s Sunday. Cloud coverage increases over the weekend, but conditions will remain dry.

Looking Further Ahead:

By early next week, additional moisture leads to a low chance of showers in the High Country. It still appears the pattern remains mostly dry for the extended forecast, but temperatures will drop into the low 70s next week.
