Monsoon 2016 brings intense storm cells to the valley

We're chasing weather north of the valley as storms are hitting areas along Interstate 17 and Beeline Highways.

Both roads are packed with drivers heading out of town for the holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Maricopa County until 6:30 p.m.

The storms popped up around 4:00 p.m. and several cells moved over Black Canyon City and Payson, bringing lots of rain and strong winds. Campers in eastern Arizona are being warned about quarter-sized hail.

Take a look at the video sent to FOX 10 by a viewer named Brianna. She says there was about an hour and a half traffic delay heading to Payson because of the roads. Another viewer in Payson, Cameron Walton, sent us a video which shows how dark it had become in the area. It appears to be more like 8:00 p.m. than 4:00 p.m.
