Weather service issues blowing dust advisory in Arizona
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) -- The National Weather Service says blowing dust is possible Friday afternoon and evening in much of southern and south-central Arizona and forecasters warn of potentially hazardous driving conditions.
Areas under a blowing dust advisory include Phoenix, Tucson, Pinal County and southwestern Arizona desert areas.
The advisory specifically mentions portions of Interstates 8 and 10 near Casa Grande and Gila Bend.
Forecasters say blowing dust is likely late in the afternoon in Pinal County and spreading north and west toward Phoenix during the early evening.
They say visibility below one mile will be common and wind gusts over 40 mph are likely.
Drivers encountering reduced visibility are advised to pull off the road, put the vehicle in park and turn off all lights and keep your foot off the brake pedal.
