1 dead in Fourth of July north Phoenix shooting

One person was killed and another is in critical condition following a Fourth of July shooting at a north Phoenix neighborhood.

The Phoenix Police Department says a 27-year-old man was shot and killed and a 26-year-old man is in critical condition following the shooting near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Investigators say the victims were with a group of friends at about 9:30 p.m., when they were approached by an unknown group of men. After a fight broke out, a suspect pulled out a handgun and began firing gunshots.

A 67-year-old man, who was not involved in the fight, was also shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

No suspect information has been released and the investigation is ongoing by detectives.
